Boarding in Little Current at 9:30am, this 40 mile, 6 hour (approx.) tour departs the dock at 9:50am sharp. The sail is rich with rugged shores that will leave you gazing the day away! The world famous Baie Fine Fjord is inside the seclusion of Killarney Provincial Park, it is a must see!
The Lacloche range that forms each side of this part of the ships passage are approx 3.5 billion year quartzite rock, and are embedded with 1.5 billion year old pink granite. At their peak, the Lacloche mountain range once stood 11 kilometers tall making them the tallest mountain range in the world. The Lacloche range has since endured billions of years of erosion and the mountains are now smooth quartzite. These ridges make up some of the tallest mountains in Ontario. Scattered throughout the mountains are boulders which were used as “warning bells” by the local natives when struck. For this reason the range was coined “Bell Mountains”, in French – “Lacloche” by the French Voyageurs.
The ship will make its way toward the end of this waterway and drop anchor for approx 2 hours. For those wishing to go ashore, a shore hike will be available, or take this opportunity to go for a dip in the water! We will then return along the same picturesque route to Little Current
